Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD;  let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.

Psalm 95:1

About Joyful Sound Quartet

Joyful Sound Quartet was formed in the summer of 2008 when four long-time friends decided to join together for the common purpose of singing barbershop harmonies.  With the first ringing chord, Joyful Sound set out on an exciting journey to share our talent with others.  In the weeks and months that followed, it became evident that we all felt a pull toward gospel music.  We truly believe that God orchestrated the formation of this quartet and continues to guide our steps by providing opportunities for us to share the gospel of Jesus Christ through a cappella harmony.

Our roots are in gospel music, and these roots are the foundation of the quartet but we also perform other genres of music as well.  Our blend of gospel, contemporary, swing, and barbershop standards are sure to please any audience.  We are members of the Southern Gospel Music Association,

Gospel Music Artist Association of Texas, BYKOTA, and Sweet Adelines International - an organization of a cappella quartets and choruses dedicated to the barbershop harmony style.

The members of Joyful Sound Quartet have been performing around the DFW area for over 15 years. Many things about a capella harmony resonate with us personally, and each of us has our own story about how we got involved.

Lee Tayon

Lee Tayon adds the high notes as tenor of Joyful Sound.  Lee has been singing all of her life in school and church choirs, as well as various other gospel groups.  She found the world of barbershop harmony in 1998 and never looked back.  Like the other members of Joyful Sound she is actively involved in the Lone Star Chorus where she serves on the Music Staff.   She is fortunate to have received 5th and 3rd place quartet honors at the regional level and numerous regional awards and international appearances as part of the Lone Star Chorus.  She considers her voice a gift from God and uses it whenever possible to the glory of her Lord and Savior.  Lee is the proud mother of two grown children, one beautiful grandson, and the wife to her best friend for the past 24 years.  When not singing, she works as an Executive Assistant at the University of North Texas Health Science Center.

Becky Loveday-Carter - Lead

Joyful Sound lead, Becky Loveday-Carter, was raised as the oldest daughter of Pastor Sam O'Toole & his wife Gloria. Becky's singing foundation was firmly rooted in southern gospel where she sang in many church choirs, trios and gospel quartets. Becky's love of singing harmony led her to find Lone Star Chorus and the barbershop craft which she has enjoyed singing for more than 18 years. Her  joy of singing resulted in her receiving a third place quartet medal at the regional level. Becky currently serves as Musical Director for Lone Star Chorus. Her grown son, who is the light of her life, lives close by with his wife and their son. Becky currently works as a bookkeeper and recently completed her personal goal of obtaining her  Associates Degree in Accounting this.  Becky is grateful for the wonderful heritage that has given her such a wonderful and strong foundation upon which to live. She knows her voice is a gift from God and has dedicated its use to share His love through music with people all over the world.

Trudie Case - Baritone

Trudie Case, baritone of Joyful Sound, began her singing career in church with her mom, dad and sisters.  Her dad was never without a song, and her Mom made the piano sing.  Both parents encouraged them to sing the great old hymns.  Concert Choir in school was the next step, and then her love of harmony brought her to Sweet Adelines International  where she began her barbershop career in 1984 with Skyline Chorus in Denver, Colorado.  She has considerable quartet experience, having earned a 4th place regional medal as well as an award for Most Improved Quartet in 2003.  Trudie currently serves as a member of the Music Staff of Lone Star Chorus.  Besides her obvious vocal talents, she is an accomplished seamstress, embroiderer, quilt maker, and business owner.

Marilyn Hanna- Bass

Marilyn Hanna who sings the mellow bass in Joyful Sound, discovered barbershop harmony nine years ago. As with all the other members, her roots are in gospel music.  Her father was a minister and the entire family grew up in a home filled with gospel music and harmony. Marilyn and her siblings were regular performers at local churches.   Marilyn is also a member of the Music Staff of Lone Star Chorus.  She is a bookkeeper by trade, and by default is also the quartet treasurer!  She and her husband Bill enjoy traveling and playing with a multitude of grand-children.
